Hulu's “Light as a Feather” Season Two Trailer Is Going to Give You the Heebie-Jeebies

Summer might be just cranking up but we’re already getting into the spooky spirit thanks to Hulu’s Light as a Feather. The series, which premiered in 2018, will be returning to the streamer on July 26 and Teen Vogue has the exclusive first look at the trailer for the upcoming season.

Warning: spoilers for Light as a Feather's first season ahead.

The second installment of the supernatural teen thriller will follow familiar characters such as McKenna (Liana Liberato), Alex (Brianne Tju), Trey (Jordan Rodrigues), Isaac (Brent Rivera) and Henry (Dylan Sprayberry) as they deal with the aftermath of season one’s events.

Following the deaths of Candace (Ajiona Alexus) and Olivia (Peyton List) in season one, the gang did everything in their hands to get rid of the curse. But their efforts prove futile as McKenna finds that the mysterious chrysalis on her back just keeps growing, like a “ticking clock compelling her to play a new round of the game.”

With the curse literally stuck to her, destroying her from the inside out, and unwilling to put anyone in danger by playing another round of the game, McKenna resorts to the only option she has: going back to not-so-new-girl-in-town Violet (Haley Ramm). “You’re stuck with the curse, you’re going to have to play light as a feather again,” Violet ominously warns McKenna in the trailer. The teaser also shows Isaac dealing with withdrawals from season one. “Ever since I woke up I’m haunted by this hole in my memory,” he can be heard saying, seemingly oblivious of season one’s, ahem, incidents.

Promising a hefty dose of romance, danger, and shenanigans — of course, intermixed with more than a hint of paranormal — Light as a Feather season two proves it isn’t all fun and games in the end. “I thought all of this was over,” McKenna proclaims in the trailer but, with a new round of the game fast approaching, it looks like it certainly isn’t.

Apart from the original squad — ehh, those who survived, that is — season two will also introduce new characters; including The Walking Dead’s Katelyn Nacon as Sammi, Teen Wolf’s Froy Gutierrez as Ridge, Adriyan Rae as Peri, and YouTuber Alex Wassabi as Luke — among others.

The WattPad-novel-turned-series was renewed for a 16-episode second season back in February. The first eight episodes of the series will premiere Friday, July 26, only on Hulu; the remaining eight continuing from October 4 — just in time for Halloween season.
