Who Is Hugo from 'Claim to Fame' Related To?: An Investigation

Step aside Sherlock Holmes! This season, I will be doing my darnedest to figure out the secret identities of the Claim to Fame contestants. The show's premise is simple enough: twelve contestants enter a Hollywood mansion, each is related to a A-list celebrity. The person who can keep their relative's identity a secret for the longest wins!

As I'm watching along each week, I'll be attempting to piece together the clues and determine the relative of each contestant, cataloging the information we learn along the way. Spoilers for all episodes that have aired. Here's everything we have learned about Hugo and my predictions:

Who is Hugo's Claim to Fame celebrity relative?

ABC/Gizelle Hernandez

ABC/Gizelle Hernandez

Episode 1

Two Truths and a Lie:

 • Relative: Grandfather (Truth)

 • Occupation: Athlete (Lie)

 • Award: Nobel Prize (Truth)

Hugo gives us a massive hint when he mentions that his grandfather was previously the "most powerful man in the world." That title is usually given to US presidents, so we've got a very small field of people to pick from.

The other contestants' best guess

Buzz Aldrin

The contestants have really zeroed in on Buzz Aldrin, but luckily for Hugo, this is definitely incorrect as Aldrin never received a Nobel Prize.

Parade's prediction for celebrity relative

Jimmy Carter

Nobel Prizes are EXTREMELY difficult to get and aren't usually awarded to big name celebrities. If we're looking for a Nobel Prize-winning president, the only suitible candidate is Jimmy Carter. Hopefully, however, the other contestants won't know who has a Nobel Prize and who doesn't.

Claim to Fame airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
