This Huge Lavender Labyrinth Is Visible on Google Earth

From the Flower Fields in Carlsbad to Hitachi Seaside Park in Japan, there are tons of Insta-worthy flower fields around the world. We found another gorgeous field filled with flowers to add to your bucket list. Reminiscent of a corn maze typical in fall, the Lavender Labyrinth and Herb Garden at Cherry Point Farm & Market is so large that you can see it on Google Earth.

Located in Shelby, Michigan, Cherry Point Farm's lavender labyrinth has a spiral pattern. The spiral is meant to be a spiritual journey and a symbol of your path in life, according to the farm's website. Time is reflected in the design, which features "one stone circle, 12 interlocking circles, 52 arbor posts, and seven cross pieces." While it looks like a maze, it's not meant to be solved like a puzzle. Rather, the labyrinth is designed as a continuous circuit so you won't get lost. Instead of figuring out where to go, the point of the labyrinth is to meditate and relax as you stroll through the lavender, a plant known for its calming effects.

Unfortunately, the 2019 Polar Vortex wiped out the the labyrinth's lavender. While Cherry Point began replanting last spring, it'll take a couple of years for the labyrinth to be completely restored. The good news is you're still welcome to walk through it. Along with giving you the opportunity to reflect, the stroll leads to the herb garden at the center of the labyrinth, which remains intact. Arranged in the shape of flower petals, the garden's 36 beds are filled with dozens of herbs.

Cherry Point Farm & Market is currently open, and there's no fee to walk through Lavender Labyrinth and Herb Garden.
