Huey Haha: Cause of death revealed for 22-year-old TikTok star
The cause of death for 22-year-old TikTok star, Huey Haha, has been revealed, nearly four months after his death.
On 17 February, the Sacramento County Corner’s Office confirmed with PEOPLE that Huey, whose real name is Hieu Minh Ngoc Ha, died by suicide.
According to a report from the California-based county government office, Huey passed away due to self-inflicted gunshot wound on 25 October 2021.
Huey’s death was announced on his Instagram account on 27 October, as the post included the date of his passing and details about his GoFundMe page.
“He loved and appreciated every single one of his supporters,” the caption reads. “This is the official gofundme, all proceeds will go towards funeral costs and his daughter.”
The GoFundMe was set up by one of Huey’s friends, Coby Jdn, with a goal of $50,000. So far, the fundraiser has over 1,500 donors and raised $46,371.
In an update posted on 2 November, Jdn expressed his gratitude towards everyone who has donated. He also emphasised that these donations have will help support Huey’s “daughter, Princess, as she grows up.”
“Please continue to share the link to this GoFundMe page with your loved ones on your social media and anywhere you can,” Jdn wrote. “Huey touched so many lives through his humor and big heart - now is our time to help his family in their time of need.”
Along with the GoFundMe page, Jdn and another one of Huey’s friends, who goes by the username HypeBoii on Instagram, shared a heartwarming tribute to the comedian.
“Used to saying RIP but this hurt the most,” they wrote in an Instagram post shared when Huey’s death was first announced. “We always hated comedy cuz all people see is laughs, not what we hadda do or go through. They already took the fun out the comedy but now its not gon be the same without you. We love you brother see you in the future.”
In this Instagram post, Jdn and HypeBoii also shared a video of Huey discussing how much he enjoying being a father.
“I love it when I come home and then my daughter, she just comes running to the door and she just screams like ‘ahhhh!’ and then she runs around in a circle and she comes back and she hugs me,” Huey said in the clip. “It’s like the best feeling, bro. You don’t really understand, like, fatherhood, until you’re in that. It’s really true.”
Huey’s Instagram account has over 315,000 followers and his YouTube account has over 646,000 subscribers. On his social media channels, he acted out his own sketches in short videos.
