Hudsonville teen dies in single-vehicle crash in Georgetown Township

GEORGETOWN TWP. — A 16-year-old Hudsonville girl died in a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Georgetown Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

At 2:05 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies and other responding agencies were called to the area of Bauer Road, east of 40th Avenue in Georgetown Township for a one vehicle crash.

Reports to dispatch were the vehicle rolled several times and was blocking the roadway, according to an Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Sheriff’s deputies found a vehicle on its top that was blocking Bauer Road just east of 40th Avenue, according to the release.

A 16-year-old Hudsonville girl was the driver of the vehicle and was later pronounced deceased on scene by LIFE Ambulance staff, according to the sheriff’s office.

The vehicle was traveling west when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and entered the ditch on the north side of Bauer Road — per the sheriff’s office. The vehicle then struck a driveway and culvert where it went airborne and flipped several times.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the crash.
