I’m such a big fan of Scandal so when I heard that Bellamy Young, who plays the first lady (or former first lady?) on the show was going to be a guest on FABLife, I knew I had to think of something special. The fashion on the show — from Olivia Pope’s power suits to Senator Mellie Grant’s chic sheaths — is pretty spectacular, but it’s definitely not cheap. For mother-son bonding time Young’s character wore a $400 Elie Tahari dress; a $700 Michael Kors piece for scheming; a $1,250 cobalt blue Monique Lhullier number for a state dinner; and vintage pearls with just about all of these outfits (diamonds are for when she’s mad at Fitz).
Those are certainly high prices, but emulating them is easy! Brands such as Betsey Johnson, Calvin Klein, and Vicky Tiel offer affordable alternatives.
