How McDonald’s Portions Have Changed From 1955 to Now

While it’s not surprising to see that McDonald’s food has changed over the decades since it first opened, it is surprising to see just how big the portions have become.

A new video from BuzzFeed breaks this down for us by showing exactly how much portions have changed over the years as their menu has grown from just nine items to more than 170 worldwide.

Hamburgers grew from 3.7 ounces for a standard sandwich, to a whopping 9.2 ounces for the quarter pounder deluxe.

Watch the video above to see how fries and sodas have ballooned as well.

Of course, when McDonald’s opened, women still went to extremes to show off a narrow waist. Today, obesity is at epidemic levels. Coincidence?
