How does Oprah pick her 'favorite things?' O, The Oprah Magazine creative director tells all
It’s the most exciting time of the year — and we’re not just talking about the holidays. We’re talking about Oprah’s Favorite Things!
For years fans have looked forward to finding out what items the queen of daytime will add to her list and 2019’s picks didn’t disappoint. But how does she choose what gets the Oprah seal-of-approval? O, The Oprah Magazine creative director Adam Glassman stopped by Yahoo! Finance and revealed the secrets behind the selections.
“Oprah sends us stuff and we send her things,” says Glassman. “We go through thousands and thousands of items,” he adds.
Glassman also reveals that the process begins way before most people are even thinking about the holidays. “We start in March,” he says.
Another important part of curating the list, he says, is choosing a little something for every budget. “We love to show things in all price points,” says Glassman. “Our least expensive item, I believe, is about $14.99,” he adds.
Glassman also hinted that Oprah has another surprise up her sleeve: her next Oprah’s Book Club pick. “There is going to be a new Book Club selection coming out,” he says. But unfortunately it sounds like fans will have to wait — Glassman added, “I can’t tell you what it is but it’s very soon!
