Katy Perry Channels Princess Leia, Gwyneth Paltrow & Solange Knowles

How do you follow a mechanical tiger and dancing sharks? By going in a very different direction. After last week’s over-the-top Super Bowl performance, Katy Perry took a sartorial cleanse onstage at the 2015 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night. She changed out of the sparkly Zuhair Murad dress she had worn on the red carpet and into an all-white Valentino haute couture gown for her serious performance of “By the Grace of God.” 

And boy does that dress look familiar! Was she channeling Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tom Ford gown from the 2012 Oscars? How about Solange’s wedding dress by Humberto Leon for Kenzo? Or, dare we say it, the original Princess Leia? Are white capes officially a thing? It’s not a look for the faint of heart, but it’s one that repeatedly lands risk-taking stars on best-dressed lists.
