Reason #977 why we love black-ish star Yara Shahidi.

Just take a look at the Off-White ensemble she wore to the 2017 People’s Choice Awards.

“I have a fabulous stylist, and I have been loving the Off-White collection,” Shahidi tells Yahoo Style. “I’m a retro person in nature. I have found home in all the other eras and generations. I love denim. While it is a gown, there’s something so funky about it. It’s a spin on such a classic gown.”

And yes, modesty was an issue for her. “I’m 16. I can’t be showing all sorts of stuff. Where is the slip?” she asked herself before donning the frock.

Her style isn’t set in stone. “It’s ever-evolving, and it depends on my mood and what music I’m listening to,” she says.

Her show just aired an episode dealing with the election of Donald Trump, and handled the issue from a variety of angles. “It’s delving into why we feel this way,” she says. “You have the balance of the political point of view and the socioeconomic point of view.”

Shahidi had planned on attending the Women’s March on Washington, held the day after the inauguration, but had to table it.

“I will be supporting from L.A.,” she says. “If I was attending, I would have been speaking. I will not be watching the inauguration, but I will be supporting the Women’s March.”
