The House From "A Christmas Story" Is for Sale
Cleveland’s iconic A Christmas Story house is officially for sale, going up just days before the 1983 film’s sequel is set to be released on HBO Max. The listing encompasses the house and the neighboring properties associated with it, making it a dream for any fan who wants to play a part in keeping the precious piece of pop culture alive.
Located at 3159 W 11th Street in Cleveland, Ohio, the A Christmas Story house is listed by sales associate Chad Whitmer of Hoff & Leigh. Spanning 1.3 acres, the listing includes five buildings—Ralphie’s house, the Bumpus house, the museum, the gift shop, and a two-family rental property—across seven lots. There’s no listed asking price, but the brokerage expects “a high level of interest” and “significant” offers, WKBN reports.
“It’s just the right time,” Whitmer told the local news outlet of the current owner Brian Jones’s decision to sell. He continued: “They’ve done a lot of work here. They’ve turned this into something special. It’s a family that owns it and they’re just looking for new opportunities to move on and they’re hoping somebody comes along, takes this, creates it, and turns it into something even more special, and makes it an even greater destination for people visiting Cleveland.”
Ralphie’s 1895 house was purchased through its current owners on eBay in December 2004 and underwent a major renovation, according to the property’s official website. Since opening to the public for tours in November 2006, the house has seen countless visitors. Hopefully, new owners will swoop in and continue to care for the beloved Christmas attraction.
