A mansion turned high-end wellness resort, the Tudor-style Miraval Berkshires was originally built in 1894 and sits on 380 acres of picturesque land. It’s new purpose, once open to the public in spring 2020, is to create a peaceful environment – one without phones, laptops, and TVs. The resort’s digital device-free policy is designed to help guests focus on the present, to take advantage of all the activities they have to offer from hikes, to meditation sessions, to massages.

Four Seasons Madrid — Madrid, Spain

Blending history and modernism together, the Four Seasons Madrid turned an iconic landmark into a stunning hotel. The immaculate lobby was restored, but not without salvaging original design elements that were created for banks that previously occupied the space, including the original bank teller counters. The same design strategy was implemented into the suites, holding on to gorgeous plaster moldings and chandeliers touched by gold strung from high ceilings. Hosting up to 600 guests, the Four Seasons Madrid has three restaurants and bars, 200 rooms, and access to a shopping haven at Galería Canalejas.

Situated between the city of Hvar, Croatia and the breathtaking neighboring marina, the Palace Elisabeth is the first of its kind in the town, with 45 rooms and suites that come with a view. The remodeled historical landmark still sports Venetian and Austrian architectural designs, paying tribute to its roots when it was first built in the 13th century.

The hotel scene in Austin, Texas knows no bounds as the city continues to grow and gain major popularity points for its food, events, and music life. Opening its doors in the spring, the Commodore Perry Estate has been on our radar for its rustic, European vibes mixed in with a country feel. Designed to feel like you’re stepping foot in an old friend’s home, these large rooms and suites hold vintage design treasures and has tons of natural light seeping in through the large windows, giving guests a view of the elegant gardens right outside. The 54-room resort also features a swanky on-site garden restaurant called Lutie’s.

The world’s fascination with catching a glimpse of the northern lights has added to the attraction of visiting frigid cold countries like Norway, Iceland, and Sweden. Some hotels offer sleeping in an igloo, but the much-anticipated Arctic Bath hotel is finally open for business – and they have floating cabins, people! With some of the most unique rooms we’ve seen from new hotels this year, Arctic Bath features a modern, yet simplistic Swedish design in all their rooms on land and on water with slanted roofs, spiraling staircases (in on-land rooms), and large windows for optimum wilderness and aurora viewing. The wellness resort features a spa with a hot bath and an outdoor cold bath, plus multiple saunas and a treatment space for massages. And you can’t go without trying traditional, upscale Swedish food that are all locally sourced for the freshest ingredients.

Six Senses New York — New York, New York

The Six Senses doesn’t compete with the skyscrapers in New York, it is one. Two twisting towers will make up the much-awaited hotel at the end of the year and will be situated right off of the Hudson River, near The High Line. Yes, those views will be spectacular. While the group has resorts all over the world, this is the first of its kind in the United States, bringing the well-known standards of Six Sense resorts to its 136 guest rooms, restaurant, café, and spa. While the hustle and bustle of the city comes with the territory, the hotel’s design elements feature natural design materials, a calming color palate, and contemporary furniture finishes for a calm within the Big Apple.

Riggs Washington DC — Washington, D.C.

One thing we know for sure is they don’t make banks like they did in the ‘20s. And thankfully, we’re not doing away with them any time soon with luxury hotel groups scooping them up and repurposing them as classy, historic hotels, like the Riggs Washington DC. Formerly Riggs National Bank, the 181-guest room hotel will be ready for guests to check in early February 2020. With gorgeous brass décor pieces, geometric chandeliers, the tallest of high ceilings, and original massive columns, Riggs has a modern, art deco vibe that carries throughout. P.S. the bedrooms feature oak wood floors, quirky floral headrests, old school corded phones, and vault-inspired minibars. Swoon.

Life House Ocean Drive — Miami Beach, Florida

For all the tropical vibes without the retro neon Art Deco comes a new hotel that’s gracing the Miami public with a new spin on the iconic ‘20s style. Opening its doors to the 305 in the spring — right around the time tourists flock to the Magic City for buzzy festivals — the Life House Ocean Drive brings breezy, South American vibes to its guest rooms and lobby. Drawing inspiration from Colombia, the hotel displays natural wood furniture from the bed frame to the fan in the rooms to the hand-woven chairs on the terrace with details to support their vision of an equestrian, modern deco resort.

Get away from the crowd and enter into a wonderland of quiet nature at the Urban Cowboy Lodge hidden inside the Catskills Forest Preserve. Open at the end of the year, outdoor lovers will have access to nearby hiking trails on the 68-acre property and relaxing by the Esopus Creek in between perusing through the hotel’s cocktail list at the bar and indulging in healthy bites from the on-site restaurant. Not only are the views breathtaking, but the rooms inside are remarkably cabin chic. Urban Cowboy made it a thing. The rooms are tapered off with rustic wallpaper, exposed shiplap, and repurposed design accents like rowing oars and bear paw snowshoes. Some rooms also feature a heavenly deep Japanese soak tub that has us ready to take a dip.

A wine drinkers dream, the Four Seasons Napa Valley is the latest resort from the hospitality brand in Calistoga, California. Secluded from the world with vineyards that go on for acres, guests will be able to experience fine wine, dining, and hospitality, making it one of the most sought-after resorts opening this year in wine country. The resort features spacious rooms decked out in farmhouse chic style (some with a private pool), but the real stunner here is the mountainous view. The property is also extremely close to local shops and restaurants, in case hiking isn’t your thing.
