So, for years I used little dots of cream here and there for extra dewiness but mostly replaced these heavier lotions with more water and gel-based moisturizers that hydrated without clogging my pores. I crossed my fingers (and asked the brand!) for a Magic Cream made for oily/combo/acne-prone skin. Well, my wish has been granted. This new hydrator looks the same as the original but that’s where the biggest similarities end. The texture is much more lightweight and bouncy, sinking into the skin quickly without leaving any residue behind. It also doesn’t have a smell, which I love because sometimes fragrances flare my eczema. The original Magic Cream’s hero ingredient is hyaluronic acid but this one is niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3 that’s known for reducing the look of pores, reducing redness, and evening the skin tone.
It also has the brand’s “Waterlocking Fusion Technology,” which traps in moisture, plus a biopeptide complex to improve skin tone and texture.
Do you need a $100 moisturizer? Of course not. But I love the way the new Magic Water Cream Gel Moisturizer provides a pretty glow under my makeup without clogging my pores and causing me those hormonal breakouts. It hydrates all day long and keeps my foundation from looking dry and cakey.
