Update, May 19, 2020 11:13 a.m.: In the few short months since Hostess released Iced Lemon Cupcakes, they've been a HUGE hit. So huge, in fact, that the company has decided to bless us by adding this treat to its permanent line-up.

Though they were originally meant to strictly be a spring offering, these treats (which feature a lemony icing on top of yellow cake) aren't going away any time soon, and thank goodness for that! In case one piece of good news wasn't enough, Hostess also announced that its Unicorn Cupcakes are also making the leap to being a permanent item. If you haven't tried those, they're yellow cakes with pink and purple decorative specks, and a creamy filling.

You can find both treats at grocery stores nationwide right now, but no need to rush: They're here to stay!!!

Original, February 12, 2o20 3:49 p.m.: Let's face it: We all always hate the season we're in. When it's summer, we all want pumpkin everything, when it's finally fall, we're all clamoring for the holiday season, and now that all that's passed...we want summer again!! We're just awful. But luckily, stores have already started rolling out the spring and summer-themed treats like these new limited-edition Hostess Iced Lemon Cupcakes.

Instagrammer and blogger @theimpulsivebuy posted these guys after a reader spotted them in their local grocery store. If you're sitting there thinking about how Hostess has a Iced Lemon Cupcake flavor already and about to roast me in an email, hold on just a moment! This flavor of Cupcake is weirdly not already part of the Hostess line-up. I KNOW.

From the looks of it, these are lemon cakes with lemon icing and a cream filling, which sounds fresh as hell.

As the blog pointed out, we already know that Hostess can rock a citrus flavor, because it's done so with Orange Cupcakes and Lemon Twinkies, so this one is bound to be delicious. So that's the good news. THE BAD NEWS is that it's only sticking around for a limited time. Stressful.

If you want to try and find them, they've been spotted so far at Jewel Osco but with a quick search, I wasn't able to find them online anywhere. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled though, I'm sure these will be making the rounds once we start seeing the sun again...whenever that is.
