Will Hopper Return for ‘Stranger Things 4’? David Harbour Speaks Out

After binge-watching all of Stranger Things 3, we have only one question: Will Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) return for season four?
Well, the 44-year-old actor recently sat down for an interview with People magazine and admitted that while he doesn’t know what the future holds for his character, he has faith that the show’s creators—Matt and Ross Duffer (aka the Duffer Brothers)—have something up their sleeve.
“I wish the best for the show no matter what,” he said. “And in terms of my involvement, I love the show, but we’ll have to see what happens moving forward. I don’t really know. The Duffers, I do believe, have a plan, but we’ll have to see what they have in mind.”
Season three of Stranger Things ended on a major cliffhanger. The episode concludes with Chief Hopper confronting the Russians in the lab beneath the Starcourt Mall. The problem? The lab explodes, leaving Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) to question Hopper’s fate.
While we originally assumed that he’s a goner, the end credits say otherwise. As it turns out, the Russians are holding an American hostage at a military base in Kamchatka, Russia. Although we don’t know if that person is Hopper, Harbour’s reaction hints that there’s more to come.
“I’m very happy doing the show, and I think there’s a rich tapestry to draw on from all the characters,” he added.
