Get ready for the hot, sticky, wet weather this summer in New Hampshire.

Again.

That's what the Farmer's Almanac is predicting for the summer season, which would essentially be a repeat of last summer's weather. Remember in June when it rained every day but two on the Seacoast?

In 2024, the Almanac says to expect it to be similarly "sultry" and "soggy."

"Hold on to your umbrellas … and tune up your AC," the Farmer's Almanac said in their summer weather forecast. "Summer is coming early this year, and it may bring the hottest temperatures in recorded history!"

Here are the details of the Almanac's summer, 2024 prediction for the northeast area of the country.

When does summer 2024 start?

Summer officially arrives on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 4:51 p.m. eastern time. According to the Farmer's Almanac, that is the earliest start of summer in 128 years.

What is the Farmer's Almanac saying about summer 2024 in New Hampshire?

The Almanac is calling for a "warm, hot, and muggy summer for most of the nation," except in the Northwest region of the country.

Locally, they are expecting it to be wet.

"New England is on track to have yet another wet summer," the Almanac's forecast said.

The Almanac stresses that this August looks to be "especially wet and showery," adding that "gardeners in New England who saw a soggy summer season last year may want to plan 'rain gardens' this year with plants that love a lot of water, such as: marigolds, forget-me-nots, canna lilies, day lilies, irises, and hibiscus."

What will the weather be on the major holidays in summer 2024?

Unafraid to make a long-range prediction, the Farmer's Almanac is forecasting the weather for Father's Day and Fourth of July now.

On Father's Day, which falls on June, 16, 2024 they're predicting widespread cloudiness in New England.

On Fourth of July, which falls on a Thursday this year, they're predicting fair skies that will be perfect for fireworks.

What about the 'strawberry moon' at the beginning of summer?

According to Star Walk, a strawberry moon "is one of the traditional names for the June full moon used by Native Americans," because June was strawberry-harvesting season.

Traditionally, this type of moon marks the start of the summer.

The strawberry moon can be seen on June 21 at 9:08 p.m. according to Star Walk.

How does the Farmers' Almanac make predictions?

The Farmers' Almanac, which is slightly different from the Old Farmer's Almanac and was founded in 1818, uses sunspot activity, tidal action of the moon, the position of the planets and other factors.

The Farmers' Almanac claims to have secret formulas. The only person who allegedly knows the exact formula of the Farmers' Almanac is its weather prognosticator, who goes by the pseudonym Caleb Weatherbee.

Published reports have said the Farmers' Almanac takes into account climate change.

How accurate is the Farmer's Almanac?

As for accuracy, the Farmer's Almanac website states, "We’ve been using the same formula for over 200 years based on math ... readers claim we’re accurate about 85% of the time, which we think is pretty good."
