Maybe it's because Hawaii's the birthplace of surfing, but the team at Hawaii News Now gets really excited about its local surfers.

Earlier this month Hawaii's iconic weatherman Guy Hagi showed some serious love for Carissa Moore after her world title loss at Lowers during a segment of "Guy's Surf Report."

Following the WSL's Surf City El Salvador Longboard Classic that wrapped last week, Hagi and his team covered the event, claiming, "Hawaii represent!"

The news channel captioned the segment above:

"Hawaii surfers absolutely dominated in El Salvador! The final two surfers on both the men's and women's sides were all Waikiki longboarders."

Hagi was excited to announce:

"The final two surfers on both the men's and the women's sides, all Waikiki surfers."

Those surfers were Sophia Culhane, Kaniela Stewart, John Michael Van Hohenstein, and Kelis Kaleopa'a.

Hagi's team broadcasted a video from the World Surf League, which gave a solid overview in its caption:

"A day full of highlight reel performances, Longboard Championship Top 8 qualification drama and emotions ended with Kaniela Stewart and Sophia Culhane crowned the inaugural Surf City El Salvador Longboard Classic Presented by Corona victors.

"An all-Waikiki Final unfolded between now No. 1 Kaniela Stewart and Longboard Tour newcomer John Michael Van Hohenstein, with Stewart flexing for a massive victory. Another all-Waikiki clash between now No. 1 Kelis Kaleopa'a and Sophia Culhane provided a showcase of poise and power with grace as Culhane emerged victorious.

"Now, the Longboard Championship Top 8 are decided at the one-day, winner-take-all World Title showdown awaits at the Original Sprout Malibu Longboard Championships Presented by Tractor Beverage Co. October 3 - 13."
