Homepolish’s First Foray into Product Design Is a Collaboration with The Inside

As the interior design world increasingly finds new ways to move online, two of the industry's buzzy digital brands have collaborated to venture into new territory. Today, Homepolish will release its first foray into product via a partnership with The Inside, the customizable, direct-to-consumer fast-furniture model launched last year. To represent the brand, Homepolish tapped Los Angeles–based Katherine Carter, who has offered her services through the platform since its founding in 2012.

"Having lived in London, the Midwest, and now Los Angeles, Katherine has a wonderful, worldly outlook that allows her to connect with clients seeking a variety of styles," explains Homepolish cofounder and CEO Noa Santos of the selection. "We knew that her broad-spectrum understanding of different design cultures would allow her to create a truly unique collection."

Though Carter looked to her travels for inspiration in the collection's patterns ("I was recently in Peru, and the Peruvian salt mines and mountains I think have been really influential," she says), the designer kept her palette neutral for a more flexible collection, whose prints reference organic motifs but in a graphic, modern way. "I went off nature’s organic palette but also added some edge," she explains. "That’s sort of my personal style. I like the organic lines, curvilinear lines, but also something that will work with different aesthetics."

Indeed, as Santos sees it, the collaboration is the perfect opportunity to reach a broad range of new customers through The Inside. "Having our very own Homepolish designer develop a fabric allows The Inside’s consumers to bring a little of the Homepolish experience into their homes," he tells AD PRO. "As an interior design platform, we loved the idea of creating a furniture collaboration that highlights the versatility of our designers."

Of course, with The Inside's easy customization, consumers can envision Carter's patterns in any array of rainbow hues—a true testament to design versatility. When asked if this launch is a sign of more product to come from Homepolish, though, Santos remains coy: "We are always looking for new opportunities to highlight our premium designers and the Homepolish platform," he offers noncommittally. Guess we'll have to wait to find out.
