A Homeowner Found a Note Under Their WallpaperReddit

Your walls may not be able to talk, but as one homeowner's story proves, they can leave behind some messages. Let's back up, shall we? Three years ago, a Reddit user who goes by Brilliantas was in the process of removing wallpaper in their home. As they peeled away the layers, they noticed something odd: A note written directly on one of the walls.

"If you ever need to wallpaper this room again, it will take eight rolls of wallpaper," wrote Jon, the supposed previous tenant who signed this note on December 21, 1997. Make no mistake, this note a little...well, creepy. (Let's be honest: Finding any type of secret, unsolicited message in your home feels like the making of a horror movie.) However, it seems like Jon from 1997 was merely trying to help.

"I bought just six rolls at £17 per roll December 5, 1997," Jon continued. "Didn't have enough. (It really pissed me off.)" Maybe Jon isn't a ghost or an unwanted visitor after all; perhaps he's a disgruntled former homeowner who doesn't want its new inhabitants to fall into the same dilemma. "Classic Jon," one Reddit user wrote.

Now that the funny-meets-freaky post has recaptured the internet's attention, Reddit users are quick to share their own mysterious notes. "I left a similar note in my old house," wrote one user. "'These screws are f***ed, good luck.'" "When they redecorated my childhood living room there was a few years of graffiti," another person commented. "The first one [said], 'I LOVE JERSEY,' under which someone [added] 'COWS!'"

Meanwhile, other users pointed out a big issue they have with Jon's project. "What kind of madman puts up wallpaper four days before Christmas?" asked a Reddit reader. Now that sounds like a horror movie we'd love to see...
