If you’re hoping to do some online shopping at HomeGoods, we have some sad news. Just two years after opening their online shopping experience in 2021, the popular home furniture brand announced it's shutting down the online store for good and refocusing its attention on its brick-and-mortar stores.

"We made the decision to focus our resources on our more than 900 brick-and-mortar stores across the United States, where we invite our passionate HomeGoods.com customers to continue shopping for home fashion and décor," HomeGoods says in their official statement.

But don't worry, Maxxinistas—the other TJX brands are all still available to shop online.

Why would one of our favorite home brands do this to us? There's a logical reason. HomeGoods plans to open new in-person locations around the U.S. in place of their online storefront. But beginning on October 22nd, buyers will no longer be able to shop the HomeGoods brand online.

This news does align with the brand quite well—HomeGoods is a home furnishings chain known for its unique in-person shopping experience.

Buyers get the chance to go on the hunt for quality home furniture at low prices. Every store’s inventory is different, and dedicated HomeGoods shoppers pride themselves on finding the best deals in the store.

Most HomeGoods stores get new inventory as often as four times a week, giving buyers endless opportunities to return for in-person shopping to find the perfect piece of furniture for their space. With the brand closing down its online shopping, it plans on returning the spotlight to the in-store experience.

New HomeGoods stores will continue to open across the country in lieu of online shopping, with twelve new locations across ten states already announced on the HomeGoods website. Looking for a new store opening near you? Grand openings and location changes can be also be found online at HomeGoods.com.

Though the major retailer's website will no longer accept orders after the 21st, HomeGoods announced that its website will still remain open for customers looking for design ideas and decor inspiration. The HomeGoods blog already features seasonal articles, product highlights, and design tips—these offerings will stay up despite the online storefront's closure.

While many are sad to see the online store go, the true HomeGoods experience is often referred to by customers and employees alike as a high-quality hunt for treasure—something that’s only possible when shopping in person.

The brand's official statement acknowledges this, saying: “Additionally, we are excited to continue focusing on that ‘treasure hunt’ shopping experience that our customers love, and delivering incredible value on an ever-changing in-store selection of exciting top brands and home fashions from around the world, all at amazing prices."

After October 21st, the HomeGoods online shopping experience will officially be permanently shut down. Orders will continue to ship out to customers who have already made an online purchase before the site closure on the 22nd.

For anyone who hasn’t seen a HomeGoods store open near them just yet, the sister brands TJMaxx, Marshalls, and Home Sense are the best bet to find similar online (and in-store) deals.
