As autumn settles in and winter stares us down, we’ll all be spending a lot more time indoors—and it seems everyone is getting the urge to update their home.

But home updates can cost money, and not all of us have extra funds floating around to devote to refreshing our spaces. Thankfully, the home store HomeSense just announced the launch of its “Make Yourself at HomeSense” contest, which offers customers $5,000 for the opportunity to tackle a home design makeover during a time when they need it most.

HomeSense—which is part of the TJX retail family that also includes TJ Maxx and and Marshalls— partnered with beloved Bachelor alumni and newlyweds Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt, who recently redecorated their NYC apartment in collaboration with the home decor retailer. In order to win the contest, you’ll need to have recently gone through a big change, like Amabile and Pitt did with their recent marriage.

For instance, have you recently purchased your first house, moved in with a partner, inherited an outdated home from a relative, or simply have a space that desperately needs an update? If so, you’re eligible for the HomeSense refresh.

To enter, visit www.makeyourselfathomesense.com and share your story. The contest opens on October 24 at 10 am EST and runs through November 19 at 5 am EST. One lucky grand prize winner will receive a $5,000 HomeSense gift card, while two runners-up will each be awarded a $1,000 HomeSense gift card.

The best part? Since HomeSense stocks a wide selection of furniture and decor at a discount, all of these items are available at 20 percent to 50 percent less than what you'd typically pay at department and specialty stores, so your gift card will go a long way.

In a press release, Amabile and Pitt spoke about their journey to merge their distinct styles and rejuvenate their living space as they begin this thrilling new chapter as a married couple, and how their partnership with HomeSense helped them do that.

“While we’ve already been living together in our NYC apartment for a few years, our recent wedding celebration gave us reason to rethink our space and make it even more of a reflection of both of us,” Amabile said in a press release.

Pitt added that they “were thrilled to work with HomeSense to refresh our bedroom, but we were so blown away by the value and selection in store that we walked away with quality statement pieces for the bedroom, living room, bathroom and entryway too, which has created a cohesive look throughout our entire home that reflects both of our styles.”

If you don’t end up winning the contest but still crave a whole-home refresh, there are plenty of ways to step up your home decor game on a budget. Consider small swaps like buying budget furniture, making small budget-friendly updates, or looking for creative new ways to transform and love your space,
