*This* Hollywood Hunk Will Play Tony in Steven Spielberg's New ‘West Side Story’

It’s official: The Sharks and the Jets are returning to the big screen for another turf battle.

Steven Spielberg is currently developing a brand-new adaptation of West Side Story, and Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver) is set to play Tony, according to Deadline. (The role was previously portrayed by Larry Kert on Broadway, followed by Richard Beymer in the 1961 movie.)

Although Spielberg hasn’t announced any further details, we do know the film will put a modern spin on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

The new version will be directed by Spielberg, and Tony Kushner (Angels in America) will write the script. Broadway choreographer Justin Peck is also attached to the project, which is scheduled to begin production next summer.

Once a Jet, always a Jet.
