Hold On To Your Spoons: Blue Bell Ice Cream Just Released A Chocolate Sheet Cake Flavor
Calling all chocolate lovers!
Get out your stretchy pants and dust off your ice cream scoops, because Blue Bell is debuting a new flavor that will knock your socks off.
Are you ready for this?
Chocolate. Sheet. Cake. Ice. Cream.
That's right, folks. The iconic Southern dessert that Ree Drummond (and just about anyone else in their right mind) is obsessed with now comes in frozen form.
"A sheet cake is simple, but so delicious," Sara Schramm, the marketing brand manager for Blue Bell, said in a statement. "It is the perfect cake to combine with our Milk Chocolate Ice Cream. Sprinkle in pecans, add a swirl of chocolate icing, and you have one great-tasting new flavor."
While Blue Bell's latest offering is not modeled after Ree's own famous chocolate sheet cake recipe, it still sounds pretty darn delicious. The new flavor is available in stores now for a limited time, so you can try the winning combination of cake, ice cream, and pecans for yourself.
In Texas—the home state of Blue Bell Ice Cream—a classic chocolate sheet cake is usually referred to as a Texas sheet cake. (Plenty of readers on ThePioneerWoman.com have pointed this out to Ree before!) Still, Blue Bell opted to use the more widely accepted title for the dessert when naming their new flavor.
"No one knows exactly why we have our own name for the cake in Texas," Sara said. "Some say it is because the cake is baked in a pan that is larger than normal, and well, we often say everything is bigger in Texas. You will notice on our Chocolate Sheet Cake cartons, just below the flavor description, we have added, 'Inspired by a favorite Texas dessert!'"
Ice cream fanatics should also keep an eye out for Blue Bell's Southern Blackberry Cobbler, which will be returning to stores for a limited time this month. The fan favorite flavor is made of "a creamy ice cream with a luscious blackberry flavor combined with flaky pie crust pieces and a blackberry sauce swirl." Yum!
