In honor of National Nurses WeekHoda Kotb shared a touching anecdote about the sweet gesture a few nurses made during her three-year-old daughter Hope's hospital stay earlier this year.

Kotb–who is also the mother of six-year-old Haley Joy–recalled the experience on Monday's episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna. "I remember I was there, and I asked for a bath. I wanted to give [Hope] a bath and they could only sponge her and I said, 'Please, I'm begging you, I just want a bath for my child.'"

The nurses understood, and Kotb described what happened next: "And I remember they got this little plastic thing, and they put it in the shower and put Hope in it and I remembered, like, that tiny thing, but it was everything at the time. It was beautiful."

The 58-year-old also recounted a similar moment when a simple hand on her back from a nurse was a huge show of care and support, saying, "I was just in this room in a chair by myself, thinking about, like, 'What's going on here?'"

"And this nurse walked in, and I still remember, put her hand on my back, didn't even say anything, just sat there for a minute. I was like, 'Oh my God,'" continued Kotb.

Her co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, helped tell the story, saying that the nurse's presence likely "felt like an angel," and Kotb agreed.

The mother of two praised how much nurses do beyond "giving the IV and the needles and the stuff and the tests and all those things." She said, "It's more than that. It's everything that they do."

Kotb's younger daughter was in the hospital for a couple of weeks last February, and while the Today host shared a portion of the "really scary" experience on the show, she's kept a majority of Hope's health scare private.

Luckily, the little girl appears to be doing much better now, all thanks to the care and support she received from her nurses, doctors, and family.
