On the Wednesday, May 3, episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna, the two hosts revealed the big, star-studded event that they've never gotten an invite to attend.

Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager were recounting their adventures at the 2023 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival when they noted that they'd missed the 2023 Met Gala on May 1.

Bush Hager said, "We also missed the Met Gala, which I was kind of okay with. Not to be mean to Anna Wintour, because we've never been invited."

Kotb emphasized that with an "ever," before Hager went on, beginning to say, "And one day we would..."

She paused, before asking Kotb, "Would you like to be [invited]?"

In response, Kotb recounted an interview in which Gayle King asked Wintour how exactly you get invited–or uninvited–to the Met Gala, with Wintour claiming that it had to do with timing, or something like that.

Kotb then made it clear, "We're never, no-We're never getting [invited]." She joked, "We've probably already been uninvited, and we don't know."

Still, Hager noted that there was one major thing that happened at the May 1 event, and that was Rihanna's appearance, as she is almost always the most highly-anticipated guest.

Rihanna turned up last, and Hager said that the singer expressed to an interviewer that she was feeling guilty for leaving her young son at home to go to the Met Gala.

Despite that, Rihanna looked amazing, as expected, in a white gown by Valentino that showed off her growing baby bump, and a white jacket covered in fabric camellias. Her partner, A$AP Rocky, was by her side.

The Met Gala is known as one of the biggest fashion events of the year and is notoriously hard to get an invite to. This year, a few of the major guests were Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell, Gigi Hadid, Lil Nas X, and more.
