Today fans welcomed Hoda Kotb back with open arms.

On Monday, Hoda joined her cohost Jenna Bush Hager for Today’s fourth hour, and it was a happy surprise for folks watching from home. Last week, viewers of the NBC morning show began asking where Hoda was after several guest hosts filled in for her. But as suddenly as she left, she returned.

So, where was she? Well, Hoda wasted no time explaining why she went M.I.A. after December 3. As it turns out, she was enjoying some down time away from technology. “I went to this retreat where they take your phone away,” Hoda told Jenna.

The broadcast journalist went on to share that “after going almost 10 days without it,” she's now making an effort to only use her phone when she needs it. Hoda revealed that the experience impacted her so much that she doesn’t want to go back to hunching over her phone.

After seeing Hoda back by Jenna’s side, her fans immediately flooded the Today show’s Instagram comments section with heartwarming messages. What’s more, many also thanked Hoda for reminding them to spend less time on their own phones.

“Welcome back, Hoda. 😍 you were missed and so glad you’re back!!! ❤️,” one person wrote. “So happy for Hoda. She truly needed the rest. ❤️,” another added. “It’s great to hear you had a great vacation Hoda!! ❤️,” a different fan said.

Now, the NBC coanchor is dedicating herself to minimizing as much screen time as she can. Aside from being on her phone for work and staying in touch with her family, she enjoys how less screen time has made her feel so far.

“I asked myself the simplest question, ‘Was I happier with it or happier without it?’ And I was happier without it,” Hoda said. “I usually have a fad of doing it, this isn’t that fad. And I realized I feel different … I feel so free and so clear and so not me.”
