History Spotlight: June home

David June House Photo, about 1900

Fremont industrialist David June (1824-1905) is pictured surrounded by family and employees on the front porch of his home on the northeast corner of Birchard and Park avenues in about 1900. June built a fine Victorian house next door in 1884 as a wedding present for his daughter, Carrie, which is now the Sandusky County Historical Society Museum. Where the house seen here stood is the Historical Society gardens, and the ornate gate in front still stands on Birchard Avenue. The museum will be open to the public 1-4 p.m. every Wednesday.
