Historic Ski Jump Location Currently Amidst Homicide Investigation

One of the nation's historically significant ski jump locations has become the backdrop of a criminal investigation. In recent days, law enforcement stumbled upon a deceased individual adjacent to the Harris Hill Ski Jump situated in Brattleboro, Vermont.

According to reports from VTDigger, authorities have determined the demise as a result of foul play. The person who lost their life has been identified as Timothy Barbour. Aged fifty-nine, Barbour contended with issues related to substance misuse and had previously pleaded guilty to charges of assault and armed robbery in 2022. As documented by the Brattleboro Reformer, these legal accusations stemmed from his involvement in a robbery at Living Memorial Park, a ski hill located in Brattleboro.

The Harris Hill Ski Jump, which was established and inaugurated in 1922, holds a storied legacy of hosting competitions for most years. Undergoing a significant revitalization effort starting in 2005, the ski jump was meticulously restored and reopened in 2009. Boasting a 90-meter FIS ski jump of world-class stature, this iconic facility commemorated its centennial milestone in 2022, accompanied by an array of enhancements, including the installation of nocturnal lighting.
