Hillary Clinton Talks About That Famous Shoulderless Dress She Wore in the '90s
Just a few weeks after announcing her next move, Hillary Clinton was honored in New York City at designer Donna Karan's Urban Zen Foundation Gala. Clinton received designation as part of the the annual Stephan Weiss Apple Awards, which is named after Karan's late husband.
As she discussed Karan's work and impact, Clinton took the opportunity to talk about that infamous shoulderless Donna Karan dress she wore in the early '90s.
“[Karan] has always been ahead of her time, from her appreciation for strong, empowered women to, yes, the cold-shouldered look, which single handedly she is bringing back," said Clinton at the event. "I think the dress she designed for me in 1993 had a lot to do with it. It just takes a while for people to catch up to Donna’s pioneering spirit.”
While the audience got a kick out of Clinton's mention of the (very on trend) shoulderless dress, Clinton made sure to close her speech with a sentiment that seemed to allude to more than just the night's celebratory event.

“I came tonight to say thank you and to urge all of us to figure out what more we can do because given what else is going on, we all need to keep going together," she said.
