Hilary Swank Marries Philip Schneider in the Redwoods

Actress Hilary Swank kept a Million Dollar secret. The star secretly married fiance Philip Schneider on Saturday, August 18, the most popular wedding date of the year, in the redwoods of California.

“We found exactly what we were looking for at the Santa Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California,” Swank told Vogue. “It’s a stunning private community surrounded by 20,000 acres of conservancy and an intimate redwood grove populated with trees that are over 800 years old.”

The bride looked resplendent in a gown by Elie Saab Couture, which was comprised of Chantilly lace, silk chiffon, organza silk and gorgeous embroidery. “I’ve loved Elie Saab for years and was thrilled to have him design my dress,” Swank continued. “I wanted something romantic that felt as timeless as the redwood grove where we were to be married, and he delivered—designing something that far surpassed my greatest expectations. It was everything I imagined and more.”

Swank tapped Allison Weddings to plan everything, including the reception at a rustic barn. Florist Christine Cater arranged the space with an “intimate and warm” communal aesthetic, according to the magazine.

The couple secretly got engaged in 2016. They first met over brunch set up by mutual friends. “It was a blind date set up by actor Misha Collins’s wife Vicki and another close friend Jean. We met at 10:00 a.m. and parted ways at 11:00 p.m.,” Swank said. “We clearly enjoyed our time!”
