While we're all still crying over the fact that the Lizzie McGuire reboot isn't happening anymore, Hilary Duff is looking back on it with pretty fond memories.

In a new interview with Good Morning America, Hilary opened up about the reboot and the first two episodes that were filmed, but later shelved.

"It was a big disappointment obviously," she said. "I will forever be grateful for the two episodes that we did shoot. It was a really special two weeks of my life."

The reboot ended up getting cancelled after Disney executives and the show's creative team disagreed about the direction and what Lizzie would have been like after all these years.

"I think she would be quirky, I think that she would struggle with confidence, but I think at the end of the day, she finds her footing," Hilary revealed. "That’s what’s so lovely about her, and that’s what so relatable is that she doesn’t have all the answers right away, but she's on the right path."

While we have no idea what version of Lizzie we would have seen in the revival, Hilary noted in a post on her Instagram that she had a clear vision of who she thought Lizzie would be years after the show ended.

"I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It's what the character deserves. We can all take a moment to mourn the amazing woman she would have been and the adventures we would have taken with her. I'm very sad, but I promise everyone tried their best and the stars didn't align. Hey now, this is what 2020s made of," she wrote.

Here's hoping they can make it work in the future.
