Remember when that footage of all the old-school Disney Channel stars filming their magic Mickey Mouse silhouette commercials leaked on Twitter and promptly ruined your childhood? I mean, how could the filming of such adorable, wholesome TV spots have been so cringe-y IRL? It was actually painful to watch.

Hilary Duff recently opened up about the experience during an interview with PopSugar, and she confirmed that, yes, it was hella awk-sauce.

"You know they put in all the animation in later so you're just having to imagine it's real," she explained of the filming process. "And you do it hundred times and a million different ways. And all of us were like kids working adult hours so I'm sure we were kind of fed up. They're like 'And be happy!" and you're like, 'Hey, it's the Disney Channel!'" She said that last part with the fakest Disney smile on her face.

Luckily, Hilary actually had some relevant experience that helped. "You know what? I did this straight-to-video movie called Casper Meets Wendy that was my very first job," Hilary shared (presumably not realizing that everyone and their mother - and their grandmother - knows about Casper Meets Wendy). "I had to do the whole movie to nobody. To a ghost that was all put in in post later. So I got pretty good at talking to myself."
