You don’t have to have a huge Hollywood family to relate to Hilaria and Alec Baldwin’s attempts to take a holiday snap with their children. On Thursday, Hilaria took a short break from their Thanksgiving festivities to share a look at what happened when they tried to get a family picture with their seven young children.

Unsurprisingly, very few of their kids smiled — and hardly anyone looked at the camera. She captioned the snap, posted on Instagram to her nearly one million followers, “Happy gratitude day from our epic fail family photo to what is probably yours. Our love and gratitude to all of you for being wonderful forces of light in our lives.” Alec was quick to leave a comment, reflecting, “Tough crowd…”

In a number of Instagram stories, Hilaria gave a further look at their day together. The family left their New York City home base to spend the day out of town at their East Hampton house. She hit the kitchen, cooking vegetables destined for inclusion in one of their many Thanksgiving dishes.

There were plenty of couch snuggles and more family snaps, and some non-pie sweets via Hilaria’s stash of Pepperidge Farm strawberry Verona and hazelnut hot cocoa Milanos. They also checked out the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and welcomed over a close family friend, Daniel Romanoff. Daniel is a longtime pal of Alec and Hilaria and, as an interior designer, actually oversaw the decoration of the home in which they spent Thanksgiving together.

Hilaria, Alec and their seven children do have so much to be thankful for, including their new 2022 baby born in September, little Ilaria Catalina Irena. Ilaria joined the ranks of the youngest “Baldwinitos,” including two-year-old Eduardo and one-and-a-half year old Marilú, who will be two in February.

Marilú’s 2021 birth via surrogacy has been on Hilaria’s mind, and tackling biases and misconceptions about the use of gestational carriers was the topic of her latest “Witches Anonymous” podcast episode. In promoting the episode, Hilaria took to Instagram to speak her mind. “When Marilú was born, I didn’t feel that the world was a safe place for me to share,” she wrote. “So many opinions and articles questioning her existence brought me to tears at a time when I was overjoyed with the birth of my daughter. Nearly 2 years later, I’ve done a lot of healing work and am committed to speaking up, sharing our beautiful story, and fighting ignorance.”
