In celebration of the forthcoming Downton Abbey film, Airbnb has partnered with the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon and Highclere Castle—a.k.a. the real-life country home that serves as Lord Grantham's grand estate on screen—to offer a once-in-a-lifetime stay and a night of uncompromising royal treatment. In addition to exclusive access to the castle and its grounds, guests will be fully immersed in the Downton Abbey experience, from the second they arrive to their departure the next day. The booking can be found here.

“It’s an absolute privilege and pleasure to call Highclere Castle my home and I am delighted to be able to share it on Airbnb for a truly unique stay,” says Lady Carnarvon.

“Highclere Castle has been in the Carnarvon family since 1679 and has an incredibly rich history. I am passionate about the stories and heritage of Highclere Castle, and I am looking forward to welcoming our future guests.”

So, what can one expect from this night of royalty?

Upon arrival, guests will be greeted by the Earl and Countess of Carnarvon for “an exclusive evening of cocktails in the Saloon, followed by a traditional dinner in the State Dining Room, being waited on by Highclere Castle’s own butler,” the booking states.

Following dinner, guests will make their way to the library where they can unwind and enjoy a cup of coffee, or take in the views of over 1,000 acres of rolling hills outside. Before retiring for the night in one of the castle's principal bedrooms, guests are free to explore some of Highclere's most iconic spaces, including the drawing room, gallery bedrooms, and more.

Ahead of the October 1st booking date, make sure you take note of Highclere's House Rules:

  • No pets allowed, but 9 friendly dogs on site!

  • No smoking

  • All newspapers must be ironed

  • Strictly one butler per person

  • Cocktail dress is de rigueur for dinner

  • Gossip restricted to downstairs quarters only

  • Listing is midweek because after all, "What is a weekend?"

If you're looking for a catch—like perhaps, an impossibly high price point—we have some good news: Highclere Castle will be listed for £150 inclusive for the night. Ready to live like royalty in the English countryside?

Reservation opportunities will go live on October 1, 2019 at 12 p.m. BST. Book your stay here.
