A high school principal in New Orleans rejected a free Chick-fil-A lunch for teachers because the chain has been "politically outspoken about its views," seeming to imply the chain's history of donating to anti-LGBT groups.

Dr. Steven Corbett, principal of Lusher High School, a New Orleans Public Charter School, issued a statement to 4WWL, saying that the school would be rejecting the meal because he didn't feel the chain's values aligned with the school's.

"Out of respect to our LGBTQ staff, we have chosen to not serve Chick-Fil-A at an employee lunch. The #1 rule at Lusher is to 'Be Kind' and we live this motto every day," he said. "Chick-Fil-A has been politically outspoken about its views, and we feel it is not part of Lusher’s culture of kindness and community.”

The meal was actually going to be provided by the College Football Playoff Foundation. It's "one of several" provided to members of the Orleans Parish school district to thank the city for hosting the Sugar Bowl and College Football Championship in 2020.

Tony Fay, a spokesman for the College Football Playoff Foundation said that in light of the decision, the organization will be providing teachers with a lunch from another restaurant instead.

Chick-fil-A did not immediately respond to Delish's request for comment, but a representative did provide a statement to Fox News.

“We are a restaurant company focused on food and hospitality and have no political or social agenda. Our priority is on providing a welcoming and respectful environment for our guests and Team Members," they said.

If you follow Chick-fil-A at all, you'll know this isn't the first time its record on LGBT issues has been in the spotlight.

After a ThinkProgress report earlier this year found that it had donated $1.8 million to anti-LGBT groups, the company was barred from opening a location in San Antonio. In response, a bill was passed called the "Save Chick-fil-A Bill" that prevents "any government entity from taking 'adverse actions' against an individual or business for their 'membership in, affiliation with, or contribution, donation or other support to a religious organization."
