High school students can apply now for Leon County apprenticeship program

Leon County is now accepting applications for the fall 2024 semester of the award-winning Leon Works Junior Apprenticeship Program.

In partnership with CareerSource Capital Region and Leon County Schools, this program grants high school juniors and seniors residing in and attending public, charter, private, and virtual schools within Leon County an opportunity to earn hourly wages while building workforce skills.

Interested applicants should apply at LeonCountyFL.gov/JRApprentice. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 31.

The Leon County Junior Apprenticeship program underscores the County’s commitment to fostering talent and creating a robust future workforce by bridging academic pursuits with real-world applications in skilled trades.

Since 2017, the program has placed students in many different positions to build workplace skills and earn hourly wages.

The program is currently looking to fill positions in the following areas:

  • Computer Aided Design (CAD)

  • Construction Contract Management

  • EMT/Paramedic

  • Fleet Mechanic

  • Graphics and Digital Design – Community and Media Relations

  • IT Tech Support

  • Medical Administrative Associate

  • Web Development

To participate, students must be enrolled in or have completed a high school-level Career and Technical Education (CTE) course or program. Students in the program will earn an hourly salary, an elective credit towards their high school diploma, and complete the CareerSource Capital Region’s LEAP training, preparing them to enter the workforce after graduation.
