'The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero' DLC Announced for 'Pokémon Scarlet' and 'Violet'

In November, history was made with the launch of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet exceeding all expectations and breaking the record for Nintendo's fastest-selling game ever. Despite its flaws -- which fans were quick to bring up upon the titles' launch -- both games have been massive successes and with Nintendo's commitment to providing ongoing improvements and its latest announcement, the future is bright.

Similar to Pokémon Sword and Shield, a two-part DLC is on the way -- titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. Part 1: The Teal Mask has players go on a school trip to the land of Kitakami as the area holds one of its traditional festivals. As a result, the mysteries of various folktales are explored. In Part 2: The Indigo Disk, a journey as an exchange student at Blueberry Academy invites trainers to battle it out in a new part of the Pokémon universe.

Several new Pokémon -- and the return of many familiar Pokémon -- have been revealed as well. Pictured first, The Teal Mask's new Legendary Pokémon named Ogerpon is featured with The Indigo Disk's Legendary -- pictured last -- Terapagos also joining the fray. In addition to these new stars, a total of 230 Pokémon not included in the base Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games that have been discovered previously in other regions are coming back, including: Alcremie, Zebstrika, Metagross, Whimsicott, Dewgong and Espurr in Part 1 and Shiftry, Chingling, Milotic, Yanma, Vikavolt and Ninetales in Part 2.

Pokémon fans can look forward to expanding their Pokémon Scarlet and Violet experiences starting this fall with the introduction of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC starting with Part 1: The Teal Mask. Following this, Part 2: The Indigo Disk has been announced for the winter. Pre-orders for the DLC pack are available now via Nintendo at a price of $35 USD. Either Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet is needed to access the DLC, available only on the Nintendo Switch.

In other gaming news, Mortal Kombat 12 is on its way.
