Prince William’s latest endeavor has a special connection to his children.

Last month, the Prince of Wales, 41, became patron of an appeal to establish a new facility that further explores antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections. It will be called the Fleming Centre in honor of Sir Alexander Fleming, who discovered penicillin, and it will open in 2028 to mark the centenary anniversary of his discovery.

The brand-new project will hold a special meaning to Prince William due to the location. The Fleming Centre will be located at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, which is where he and all three of the royal’s children were born. Specifically, the kids were delivered in the hospital’s private Lindo Wing.

Prince William and Kate Middleton welcomed their firstborn, Prince George, in July 2013 at St Mary’s Hospital. They went on to add Charlotte in May 2015, followed by Prince Louis in April 2018.

According to Hello! magazine, the Fleming Centre “aims to combine cutting edge research, public engagement and work with policy makers to drive global change on the issue.”

Prince William celebrated the exciting milestone on Instagram, where he shared a video with the caption, “Over one million people a year die as a result of antimicrobial resistance. The Fleming Centre will drive a global movement to tackle it. Proud to become Patron of the appeal to create this vital centre, which will educate, inspire and catalyse action to solve this problem.”

Keep up the great work, Prince William.
