HGTV Star Karen E Laine's Home Was Robbed This Month During Daughter's Wedding Ceremony

Earlier this month, Kelsy Gray, the younger sister to Good Bones star Mina Starsiak Hawk and daughter to Karen E Laine, got married to her longtime boyfriend. The socially-distanced ceremony took place on Saturday, November 7th; however, the night didn't go off without a hitch. Laine's Indianapolis home was burglarized.
Laine spoke with locals news station FOX 59 this past weekend about the incident. “Last Saturday someone came in, stole more things," she said, noting that the individual had entered through the back door. Even more jarring than the actual robbery was the fact that the individual had also "pooped in the garage."
"It seems very personal and intentional," the 58-year-old home reno expert said, noting that the suspect had rummaged through the bathroom in the garage. "So they know we have a bathroom. That’s what makes it feel personal because it's not, 'Oh, I need to go to the bathroom.' It’s I’m going to leave my feces behind for you to clean up.'"
This is the third time the HGTV star’s home has been broken into, the outlet reported. The first incident was also a garage break in where her husband's bike was stolen. Feces were also left behind. The second time the house was broken into, Laine and her family were asleep. The crook made off with her purse and made a series of her purchases using her credit cards. However, what many people don't know is a Laine is a former prosecutor.
"Probably not the house you want to burglarize because I was immediately on the case," she recalled. "I found out where my credit cards were used, I got it to law enforcement. I said, 'you need a warrant today to get an address on this.' [The investigator] was able to recover video, so we may have people on video."
Currently, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the situation, as well as analyzing the feces for DNA.
