Hey Y'all Episode 1: The Ultimate Vegetable Plate

Whether she’s cooking up fried chicken in the Southern Living Test Kitchen or hosting her friends for an at-home tailgate, Ivy Odom is redefining what it means to be a woman in the South today. In this episode of Hey Y’all, Southern Living’s newest video series, Ivy shows us how to make the ultimate vegetable plate. Why the passion for vegetables, you might ask? The Moultrie, Georgia native grew up showing pigs— her favorite animal. “For 3 months after the show I refused to eat pork for fear of eating the pig I raised. Since pork and pork by-products (bacon grease, anyone?) were staples in our house, my mom had to get really creative with dinnertime. Southern veggie plates were very common during the months after the show, and were a great use for our 'put up' summer vegetables. This recipe for a classic Southern vegetable plate takes the best of late summer produce that’s available now.” Can't wait to turn your garden-fresh bounty into this company-worthy supper? We’ve made it easy for you! The links to each recipe can be found below, and don’t forget to check out our new Hey Y'all episodes, premiering Fridays on Facebook and YouTube.
