Hey McDonald’s: Please Bring These International Menu Items to the U.S.

We want Mickey D's mozzarella sticks, too!

Don’t get us wrong, we love ourselves a McDonald’s run for a Big Mac, fries, and, of course, an ice cold Coke. But learning what other McDonald’s restaurants serve worldwide makes us a wee bit jealous—OK, a lot jealous.

So, Mickey D’s, we’re prepared to offer you a compromise. If you won’t bring back the Chicken Selects and Snack Wrap, can you at least bring some of these international menu items to the U.S.? And not just to the Global Menu Restaurant in Chicago, we want them nationwide.

We know you attempted to give us the Chicken Big Mac in 2022, which lasted all of a few months, so we promise we’ll accept these items with open arms and open wallets.

Cheesy Bacon Flatbread

Available in: UK and Korea

A breakfast flatbread? Sign us up. McDonald’s UK restaurants have a ton of breakfast offerings that we can’t get on this side of the pond, including this Cheesy Bacon Flatbread. It even serves different bread than in the U.S., like breakfast rolls and, of course, the flatbread used in this item.

The Cheesy Bacon Flatbread consists of melty cheese and crispy bacon folded into Mickey D’s flatbread, and it really does sound like an ideal way to start our morning.

Mozzarella Dippers

Available in: UK & Korea

You can’t tell us that fried mozzarella sticks aren’t a quintessential American food. So many fast food restaurants in the U.S. sell mozzarella sticks, so we obviously think McDonald’s should too.

However, the Mozzarella Dippers in the UK are served with a salsa dip, which we would probably swap for marinara sauce if given the chance.

Deluxe Fries

Available in: France, Spain, and Greece

Don’t come for us on this one. We love McDonald’s french fries, so we don’t want these Deluxe Potatoes to replace them. We just want to see them on the menu next to the regular fries (like how they’re sold in these countries) because sometimes switching it up is nice.

McDonald's Deluxe Potatoes are thick potato wedges that are coated in a spice seasoning and served with a special sauce. In France and Spain, it’s a chive sauce, in Greece, it’s a sour cream sauce. Some other countries have also served these fries, like the UK, so we’d like to get in on the fun, please.

BBQ Beef

Available in: France

This may look like your traditional McDonald’s Double Cheeseburger, but France really takes it up a notch. The burgers are topped with six-month-aged Cheddar, red onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and a signature barbecue sauce.

First off, McDonald’s U.S. doesn’t even offer red onions, so that’s a nice change. But, the barbecue sauce is the real reason this burger made the list. We don’t have anything like this, and while we can dump BBQ sauce on our burger after we get it, we’d like the option to order it on top of the burger.

Chicken McCrispy

Available in: Singapore

Yes, this is a McDonald’s version of fried chicken, and yes, we’re also drooling. McDonald’s Singapore’s Chicken McCrispy is a two-piece order of crispy, fried chicken.

The order comes with one thigh and one drumstick. If that’s not enough, you can also get a six-piece McCrispy bucket—they’re really coming for KFC in Singapore—with three thighs and three drumsticks.

Or, if you’re only feeling a bit snacky, McDonald’s Singapore also sells McWings, which are smaller pieces of fried chicken.

McToast

Available in: Italy

We don’t know why, but something about this McToast panini from McDonald’s Italy is making us very jealous. It’s such a simple item—baked ham and cheese pressed between two slices of toast—but we just know it would make the best breakfast.

McDonald’s Malta also sells the McToast—and its restaurants have an all-cheese version too, making it like a Mickey D’s grilled cheese sandwich.

In these countries, the McToast is available as a Happy Meal, so they’re probably meant to be geared toward picky kids, but we’d absolutely still order it.

Double Layer Beef Burger

Available in: China

Upon reading the name “Double Layer Beef Burger,” you might think this is just a double cheeseburger, but you’d be oh-so-wrong. McDonald’s China’s burger isn’t just topped with two patties, but it’s also finished off with an additional two German Thuringian sausages.

This is the meat burger to end all meat burgers, and we hope all you carnivores out there get to try this brat-topped burger one day.

Chicken & Cheese Box

Available in: Germany

You’ve heard of surf & turf boxes, but we’re more interested in this Chicken & Cheese Box from McDonald’s Germany.

First, we have to address the fact that Mickey D’s Germany sells Chili-Cheese Snackers, which are fried pieces of spicy, jalapeño-packed cheese. Yet another fried cheese menu item that we can’t get in America.

The Chicken & Cheese Box is filled with 12 Chili-Cheese Snackers and 12 McNuggets making it the perfect sharable, snackable offering for your lunch or even road trip.

Coke Float

Available in: India

We always thought there was nothing better to wash down your McDonald’s meal with than a Coke. But, now that we know Coke Floats exist, we might be second-guessing ourselves.

McDonald’s India sells its Coke topped with vanilla soft serve ice cream, and that order sounds like a summertime dream come true.

Mickey D’s in the States tried selling Dr. Pepper floats at one time in select locations, but they never made it nationwide. So, we’d love if they could just try the whole float thing again. Because while we could order a Coke and an ice cream cone (if the machine isn’t broken), then swirl it together, where’s the fun in that?

Rice Bowls

Available in: India

Look out Chiptole, this fast food bowl might give you a run for your money. McDonald’s India sells six different rice bowls that all start with a bed of seasoned rice and are topped with veggies, sauces, and even Chicken McNuggets.

If fast food is all about quick and delicious comfort food, then these rice bowls are certainly that.

McChicken Mozzarella

Available in: Korea

Obviously, we’re still salty about not having mozzarella sticks, but seriously, you can’t tell us this chicken sandwich doesn’t look scrumptious. It’s like a chicken parm sandwich.

The sandwich is made with crispy chicken, two mozzarella sticks, lettuce, and a spicy Arrabiatta sauce. Wendy’s released a similar sandwich for a limited time in 2022 that was a huge hit. So, come on McDonald’s, bring it stateside!

Egg BLT McMuffin

Available in: Canada

Just look at that sky-high McMuffin. Who wouldn’t want to sink their teeth into this BLT breakfast sandwich? Despite the fact that Canada is our Northern next-door neighbor, its Mickey D’s menu is quite different from ours.

Take this Egg BLT for example. It’s made with egg, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, and it’s available as a McMuffin, on a bagel, or topped with chicken instead of egg. Why don’t we have this fresh-looking sandwich you may ask? That’s a question for our friends at McDonald’s.

The good news is, you don’t have to travel too far to try it.

Signature Club House Double

Available in: Mexico

McDonald’s Mexico’s Club House Double is loaded with two patties, bacon, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, white cheese, and special sauce on a brioche bun. It looks like an elevated version of the fan-favorite Quarter Pounder with Cheese Deluxe. Plus, look at all that sauce oozing out the side—yum!

Big Brekkie Burger

Available in: Australia

McDonald’s Australia sells the ultimate brunch burger. The Big Brekkie Burger is loaded up with two patties, bacon, an egg, a hash brown, cheese, and barbecue sauce on a sesame seed bun.

Now, there have been stirrings about a secret menu item at U.S. McDonald’s location called the McBrunch Burger, which is almost the same thing. The McBrunch Burger is a Double Cheeseburger topped with an egg and hash brown, but it isn’t actually on the menu. So, Mickey D’s, you know it works for the Aussies and you know we Americans have already tried to order it, so let’s just get it on the menu! Please and thank you.

Ham and Cheese Croissant

Available in: Brazil & Cyprus

To be fair, we’d love all the international McDonald’s pastries, but if we had to choose just one to join the McCafe menu, it’d be this ham and cheese croissant. For when you’re feeling snacky, when you want a quick on-the-go breakfast, or just when you’re craving a fluffy, buttery, cheesy croissant, this menu item would be a hit, we know it.
