As Halloween quickly approaches, it's led many to wonder which activities are safe to do this year, and which will be canceled, most notably trick-or-treating. It's a mixed bag across the U.S. with some leaders already canceling the event and others pledging that it will go on. But if you're wondering about how to keep your family safe if you do got trick-or-treating, Hershey's has come to your rescue.

The brand launched a site to help guide people across the country safely in their Halloween activity decisions. To start, they provide a color-coded map where you can hover over your county to see the risk of COVID-19 in that area. Once you know what color your county falls into, Hershey's provides some suggestions based on your situation. For example, if you're in the green, you can do anything from go trick-or-treating to have a neighborhood costume party. If you're in the red, they suggest some other fun things like having a Zoom party or holding Halloween karaoke.

As they note in their opening, this year Halloween will fall on the convergence of a full moon, a blue moon, daylight saving time, and Saturday celebrations, and we've all been cooped up for months, so many are eager to celebrate as normal, but it's still important to practice precautions, no matter your area's threat level. In addition to activity suggestions, they provide some tips like don't go out if you're sick, stay six feet apart, wear your mask, and bring hand sanitizer.
