Hershey’s Is Releasing Organic Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups This Year
Watching your sugar intake? The good news is that Hershey’s is planning to introduce and relaunch more zero-sugar and organic items in fiscal 2021. We’re not saying this means you can eat even more candy, but we’re also not saying that’s not what it means.
The two new products we have our eye on are the Organic Reese’s and Organic Hershey’s Special Dark. To be labeled organic in the U.S., the ingredients used must have been grown without the use of synthetic substances. It doesn’t appear that the organic Reese’s and Hershey’s will taste all that different, but we’ll have to wait and see to know for sure.
“Our sugar-free platform has been performing well and we believe this will enable us to reach more households and provide consumers with more great tasting ways to enjoy their favorite Hershey brands,” Michele Gross Buck, chairman, president, and chief executive offer,” said in an announcement.
The big goal of this relaunch is about making the sugar-free category feel more contemporary — which also comes with some nice new packaging. So you might notice that the Jolly Rancher Zero Sugar and York Zero Sugar bags are more modern.
“And while the organic chocolate market is small, it is growing rapidly, and we are excited to bring consumers great tasting organic versions of Reese’s and Hershey’s through this targeted launch,” Buck said.
Images of the new bags have already started popping up on retailers’ websites, but it sounds like they’re not quite ready to roll out on shelves. You know we’ll be giving them a try once they do.
