If you list your five favorite candies, there’s a good possibility that at least one of them will be manufactured by Hershey’s. Do you love Reese’s? It’s owned by Hershey’s. Did you enjoy a Cadbury Cream Egg this spring? Thank Hershey’s. Will you break us off a piece of that Kit Kat Bar? Also produced by Hershey’s.

And of course, the brand based in Hershey, Pennsylvania—with its distinct smell of chocolate everywhere—makes the original milk chocolate Hershey’s Bars, the star of many a s’more.

As with almost all the original candies mentioned here, Hershey’s Bars has its variations. There’s Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Cream, Hershey’s Milklicious, and the bite-sized Hershey’s Kisses. Last year, Hershey released a summer-themed candy bar,  and it’s now back again with plenty of time to stock up for summer.

Hershey’s White Creme with Sprinkles and Popping Candy Bars

That’s a mouthful, isn’t it? The returning candy bar looks like a white chocolate bar—but note: cocoa butter is not one of its ingredients so it’s not a true white chocolate. It features specks of red and blue sprinkles running through it and bits of popping candy.

Popping candy seems to be associated with the red, white, and blue of America. For the 2020 Olympics, Oreo created a sandwich cookie with red, white, and blue striped cream filling and popping candies in the cream. The vibe of Hershey’s White Creme with Sprinkles and Popping Candy is definitely Fourth of July with the white candy bar and red and blue sprinkles. The packaging has bursting stars and stripes to match the bursting, sparkly mouthfeel of the popping candy.

“LOVE! Please don’t discontinue!” a reviewer said on the Hershey’s website. “Love the taste and uniqueness of this candy! The pop rocks and white chocolate go so well together!”

Hershey’s suggests using the limited-edition candy bar in s’mores or chilling them before eating as two of the “many ways to get popping this summer.”

The get-them-now-before-they’re-gone candy bars seem to come in only a six-pack, so the question is, are they good enough to buy six of them? Many of the reviewers on Amazon think they are.

“These were surprisingly delish! Eat them real fast, tastes like white choco. Eat slow, feel the pop.”

One parent took them to their child’s school (surely after finding out about allergies first), and they were well received. “These were for my son's classroom as part of the birthday giveaway. I believe they were a hit because I overheard a kid telling their mom about how they got these cool candy bars with pop rocks in them!” she said.

These are on Hershey’s website now and Instagram’s Candy Hunting found them in Target. As they’re a limited-time offer, there’s no way to know if these will be sold out by the Fourth of July, so if you want them as part of a festive Independence Day, get them now and hide them away to enjoy during fireworks. There will be fireworks going off in the sky and in your mouth.
