When someone says "wedding suit," you probably imagine a tuxedo, not a full-blown lawsuit. Well, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz are getting a little bit of both.

The couple's dreamy April 2022 wedding was surrounded by swirling rumors about a supposed feud between Nicola and her mother-in-law, Victoria Beckham, over her wedding dress design. (These rumors were later debunked via Variety.) However, it became clear that the real problem was with the wedding planning when Nicola's father, Nelson Peltz, filed a lawsuit against Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba of Plan Design Events. Based on legal documents obtained by US Weekly and Daily Mail, Braghin and Grijalba replied with a countersuit in February 2023.

Curious about what's going on with all of Mr. and Mrs. Peltz-Beckham's post-nuptial drama? Here's everything we know so far about the wedding and lawsuits between the Peltz and Beckham families and their wedding planners.

Brooklyn and Nicola used three different event planners for their wedding

The couple began their wedding planning process with Preston Bailey, who has worked with Oprah Winfrey, the Trump family, Mariah Carey, Uma Thurman, and other celebrity clients. Bailey was hired in April 2021 but stepped away from the project in March 2022, explaining that he "couldn't deliver the quality [he] was used to."

In Nelson's legal filing, he noted that Bailey had "challenges" while planning the wedding, which prompted the family to hire Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba of Plan Design Events, six weeks away from the wedding date. Nine days after Braghin and Grijalba were hired, they decided to part ways with the Peltz and Beckham families.

With only a month left, Brooklyn and Nicole hired Michelle Rago of Michelle Rago Destinations as their final wedding planner to coordinate the big day. Nelson noted that he had to pay Michelle Rago a "substantially higher fee than what the Rago Destinations would have charged under normal circumstances" due to the timeline.

Text messages reveal tensions over the guest list

As part of the evidence for their lawsuit against Braghin and Grijalba, the Peltz family submitted several screenshots of text messages between themselves and the planners.

"Lewis Hamilton did NOT RSVP. So explain why his names on the list please. We spoke to him," Nicola texted. "He cant come to explain why you said he rsvpd yes."

After Grijalba sent an extensive response about the new RSVP system that they were using and how she intended to get back to them with an answer soon, Nicola texted, "That's not true. He didn't rsvp AT ALL."

Nelson wrote, "can someone please call me" to which Nicola responded, "I'm tired of catching mistakes on this rsvp list honestly."

Another alleged text from Nicola read, “This is not what I asked for. I ASKED FOR OUR INVITE LIST. IN. VITE. NOT. RSVP. Can u manage to send that to me."

Nicola's father filed the initial lawsuit in December 2022

Eight months after the wedding, Nelson filed a lawsuit that alleged that the two Plan Design Events planners overstated their "experience, expertise and capability of planning the wedding," which led to issues with “the anticipated attendance of many high-profile guests."

The handling of the guest list, which "included more than five hundred people, including numerous celebrities, athletes, dignitaries and other influential individuals, who traveled from all around the globe to attend," was a point of contention during planning.

Nelson sued over the $159,000 initial deposit that he paid to Plan Design Events, due to a lack of movement in the planning process over their nine days of working together. "During their nine days of negotiations... [they] failed to book a single new wedding vendor, failed to finalise the terms of any agreements with any of the vendors that had previously been selected by Peltz and his family and failed to attend previously scheduled meetings with Peltz," the filing argued according to Mirror.

Braghin and Grijalba have not returned the deposit.

What Brooklyn and Nicola's first wedding planner had to say

Bailey spoke out about his feelings towards the two families and had nothing but kind words despite not being able to see the wedding through to completion. Bailey told Page Six, "I have the best to say about the Peltzes and Nicola. There wasn't any bad blood. They are lovely people. These people are important to me."

"Nicola was great," he added.

Plan Design Events filed a countersuit in February 2023

Braghin and Grijalba recently filed a countersuit asking for over $50,000 to cover damages from the lawsuit that their lawyer described as "frivolous and unimpressive." Both women described working 17-hour days while sorting out the 500+ person guest list for the Peltz family, whom they accused of having poor communication and demanding behavior.

"Both Claudia and Nicola had insisted that Victoria Beckham could not know about any internal mistakes regarding the ongoing planning of her son’s wedding, including any errors with the guest list," the documents noted. The countersuit also added that the price of Nicola's wedding hair and makeup was kept under wraps because Nelson would "kill her and be so mad" if he found out the cost.

Court documents revealed a conversation between Nelson, described as a "billionaire bully," and the two planners. This conversation was reported by Page Six to have allegedly followed the below:

Peltz: "Are you crying Arianna, are you crying?"

Grijalba: "No, what are you talking about?"

Peltz: "I blocked all your emails. Do you think that was funny?"

Grijalba: "Mr. Peltz, I don't know why would you block our emails, we are sending all our work for your daughter's wedding as per your request."

Peltz: "Are you crying?"

Grijalba: "Mr. Peltz, you are the one who called me, is there anything else you want to tell me?"

Peltz: "I don't know why I called you."

One of Nelson's representatives criticized the countersuit by describing it as having "no merit" and being “replete with inaccuracies,” according to the Daily Mail.

Nicola reportedly wants a second wedding

A source told Closer that Nicola is hoping for a redo on her big day.

"The whole thing was a nightmare. [Nicola] was far from completely happy with the wedding, the build-up with the three different planners, and associates it now with rows, issues and tension between the families," the source explained. “She’s told Brooklyn she feels like it still has an impact on their relationship, and has even said she finds it tricky looking at the wedding pictures. It just reminds her of all the drama, with them both looking so tense."

They continued, "So there has been talk of having a new wedding ceremony for their first anniversary. She wants to redo the original day with a new dress, new pictures and a new event – and despite the raised eyebrows, she wants an even more lavish do."

Nicola and her mother file to be removed from further legal proceedings

When Braghin and Grijalba of Plan Design Events filed their countersuit against Nelson Peltz in February 2023, they named Nicola and her mother, Claudia Peltz, as third party defendants. But in a March 9 court filing, Nelson motioned to remove Nicola and Claudia from the lawsuit, according to People. In the court documents, Nelson's lawyers affirm that Nicola and Claudia's inclusion in the countersuit is "salacious, meritless, and legally deficient."

"Aware that its claim is frivolous, PDE shamefully attempts to falsely portray Nicola in an extremely negative light to entice the media and hopefully pressure Mr. Peltz to dismiss his well-founded claims against PDE," the lawyers' statement continues. "While this was tailor-made for the tabloids, it could not be further from the truth."
