Here's Who Went Home in ‘Survivor’ Last Night

It hasn’t been that long since Season 41 of Survivor, but CBS is back with Season 42 as of March 9, 2022. 18 new castaways are set to take on the challenge of outwitting, outplaying, and outlasting each other in an epic physical and social competition for 26 days.

That’s right. Season 41 was the first to shorten the days castaways spent on the island, and Season 42 will be no different. Along with the new time constraint, many of the tricks and advantages introduced in the previous season are back, like making contestants hide complicated advantages from each other, or corralling members from different tribes together to create tentative alliances before the eventual merge.

Plus, Season 41 and 42 were filmed so close together that the participants of Season 42 have no idea about any of the twists the previous season’s contestants went through, like the Shot in the Dark, or when winner Erika spent two nights alone early in the game, then came back and changed who received immunity in a pivotal moment.

But don’t expect the same surprises as last season. Knowing Jeff Probst and the rest of the crew behind Survivor, there’s bound to be new elements we’ll never guess. So even if someone gets voted out in the first episode, or makes it all the way to the end, it’ll be a triumph regardless. Survivor is easily one of the hardest ways to get $1 million on television, and after the previous season’s twists, it’s only going to get harder.

Here’s everyone who got voted out of Survivor Season 42. Check back here throughout the season for every elimination, and eventually to find out the winner.

Episode 6

Lydia

Much like Season 41, this season of Survivor had a massive twist. Right before the official merge, the remaining castaways were put into two teams to fight for immunity. Then, one person who wasn't apart of either team, Rocksroy, was sent off and given the chance to change which group won the immunity challenge (and he'd be part of the original losing team). Rocksroy chose to change who gained immunity, putting everyone who thought they'd won in jeopardy. With various advantages and idols in play, tribal came down to who most players thought was both an easy target and a strong strategic player: Lydia.

Episode 7

Chanelle

Tori wins immunity once again, and the mad scramble to find out who to vote for begins. Maryanne, Chanelle, and Romeo are the three names tossed around. The majority of the group wants to go for Chanelle, but Romeo's paranoia makes some players question if he's a better person to eliminate. Ultimately though, it's Chanelle who goes home and becomes the first person on the jury.

Episode 8

Rocksroy and Tori

During the (double!) immunity challenge, the merged tribe was split into two teams, which they then stayed with through a double elimination. In an all male team with everyone but Jonathan, the initial name thrown out was Romeo. But as Rocksroy starts calling the shots, Omar convinces the rest of the team, sans Mike, to vote him out. It's a complete blindside, and briefly brings together Romeo and Hai, who notably don't trust each other.

The other (winning!) team, made up of all the women on the merged tribe and Jonathan, has a much more difficult tribal council. Before the tribal, many of the team wants to vote out Drea, who they know is a strong player and has an idol (plus a few secret advantages up her sleeve). Things change at tribal though, when the group sees Rocksroy voted out. When Jeff Probst questions the group, Drea starts a conversation over how Black survivor players typically go home in succession, and fears Rocksroy and Chanelle's elimination are only the beginning of a vicious cycle. Maryanne agrees, and whispers to her group to instead vote out Tori. She and Drea also play their idols, to prove to both the audience and any doubting cast members that their conversation around race isn't just an empty ploy to stay in the game. In an unanimous vote done completely out in the open, Tori is sent packing, no vote count needed.

Episode 9

Hai

Lindsay won both the reward and immunity challenge, and the tribe settled on two people to possibly send home: Jonathan and Hai. Both have undoubtedly been running the game for most of the season, with Jonathan a hard man to beat in challenges, and Hai an expert social player. One of the standout players of the night was Omar, who notably lied to Mike, convincing him to turn on ally Hai. At tribal council, the majority voted for Hai, while Romeo and Hai voted for Jonathan.

Episode 10

Drea

A controversial twist from Season 41, Do or Die returned. Players chose rocks for who would participate in the endurance immunity challenge, and it came down to Jonathan and Lindsay. Lindsay held on as long as she could, but ultimately Jonathan snagged immunity, ruining the camp's plans to try and get him out. Instead, there was a frantic energy for the rest of the episode, with players scrambling to put together an alternative plan if Lindsay didn't win the Do or Die game at tribal. Ultimately, she won, and despite Drea's attempts to save herself (using the Knowledge is Power perk for Mike's idol, which Mike gave to Omar before tribal council to avoid), the tribe voted her out.

Episode 11

Omar

Omar won a reward challenge, leaving out only Linsday and Jonathan in a feast of cookies and cake. At the immunity challenge, Lindsay wins. The rest of the camp scrambles to find the next strongest player to eliminate. Although Linsday and Omar attempt to get Jonathan out, Maryanne took control of the game this episode with a surprising blindside against Omar.

Who Won Survivor Season 42?

Maryanne!

In the finale, Lindsay was the last person voted out of the tribe, with Romeo winning the final immunity challenge. He had the powerful ability to choose who went with him to the final three, and who would fight for a spot via fire-making. Ultimately, he kept Maryanne, and made Mike and Jonathan battle it out.

It turned out the firefighter could both put out fires and make them, and Mike took the fire-making challenge. Then...it was down to the jury.

The recently eliminated players grilled everyone. Mike was questioned for his claim he played the game with integrity, and Romeo was asked about what major moves he made during the game. When Maryanne was asked what her moves were during the season, where she revealed her master plan to get Omar out, and that she had another idol the whole game and no one knew.

In a nearly unanimous decision, Maryanne won Season 42, with only one vote for Mike, and none for Romeo.
