If you've been missing Barack Obama ever since he left office, these are the boom times for everything Mr. 44. He just dropped his summer soundtrack. Later this year, Obama will publish Renegades: Born in the USA alongside Bruce Springsteen, inspired by his conversations with The Boss. And we're guessing that you've already devoured his memoir, A Promised Land, of course.

Now, Obama will get a the traditional documentary series treatment from HBO Max and director Peter Kunhardt. The three-part Obama: In Pursuit of a More Perfect Union will chart Obama's journey to the White House, featuring interviews with those closest to (and even against him.) We're talking figures such as John Lewis, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Valerie Jarrett, David Axelrod, and Rev. Al Sharpton. Before we tell you how to watch the documentary in its entirety, check out this teaser from HBO about what the series will explore:

“Obama’s presidency was unique in America’s history, but what was a historic step forward for the country also exposed the ever-present need to address issues about race, racial justice and the country’s history,” HBO writes. Encapsulating both the man and the president, the documentary highlights the vision he had for the nation shaped by his own experiences and identity. Through today’s lens, the series reflects on the Obama administration with new understanding about the personal obstacles he faced and the challenging pursuit for equality in America.”

Episode Two will debut Wednesday night at the same time then Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET as well. If you've fully committed to HBO Max, then you can catch it all on the streaming platform. We know you probably don't need much convincing at this point, but the trailer below will most definitely make this doc a must-watch for you.
