The McDonald's McCrispy chicken sandwich is getting an extra kick inspired by the flavors of the South. Starting April 22, you can order the brand new Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy at participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time.

The original Southern-style McCrispy sandwich is prepared with the basics—a few pickles and a buttered roll (some days that's all we need). McDonald's already has a spicy version slathered in their signature Spicy Pepper Sauce for when you want more heat.

The Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy (that's a mouthful) will take things further with a "bold, creamy and spicy Cajun ranch sauce, applewood smoked bacon and crisp crinkle cut pickles, all served on a warm toasted potato roll," according to a statement. If you want to make your sandwich extra fancy and top it off with Roma tomatoes and shredded lettuce, you can order a Bacon Cajun Ranch Deluxe McCrispy (try saying that 10 times fast).

Now, according to the McDonald's website, the Bacon Cajun Ranch McCrispy comes to 630 calories—we'll just say that's a little more than the classic McCrispy or the Spicy McCrispy. Based on the ingredients list, the Cajun ranch sauce is flavored with that tangy Southern favorite, buttermilk. Maybe it's the buttermilk in the sauce, or maybe it's bacon. But when it comes to a few smoky slices of bacon, sometimes it's just worth the sacrifice.
