If you had plans to view the solar eclipse, you probably shelled out more than you ever imagined paying for a pair of one-use-only cardboard glasses. The good news? There's an easy way for you to make sure those glasses don't go to waste (you know, aside from the fact that they may have kept your vision intact while you watched a natural phenomenon).

Astronomers Without Borders just posted a Facebook call for everyone out there who is still hanging on to those glasses. Turns out, there's a simple way for you to give them a second life, and it'll allow you to give back while doing so.

"Give your eclipse glasses a second chance! Astronomers Without Borders and its partners will be announcing a program to collect glasses after the eclipse, to be sent to schools in South America and Asia when eclipses cross those continents in 2019," the organization wrote.

The Astronomers Without Borders' web site indicates that you should NOT send the glasses directly to their mailing address. Instead, you can sign up for a newsletter that will alert you when further details about corporate partners in this effort are announced. In the meantime, you can reach out to the company that sold you your glasses to see if they're participating.

So, there you have it! Hold on to those glasses of yours. They just might save someone else's vision the way they did yours.
