Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been spending the holidays in Canada; they even got an official Twitter welcome from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau upon their arrival. Traveling at the holidays goes a little differently when you're a royal and can pretty much get in anywhere you want based on name recognition alone, right? Actually, while the couple was in Greater Victoria, on Vancouver Island, they had at least one hiccup that they didn't expect.

Last week, Meghan and Harry tried to have dinner in Sidney, British Columbia's waterfront restaurant Deep Cove Chalet, but the restaurant was not able to accommodate them. If this sounds like a "no room at the inn" situation, it's a little more glamorous than that: the royals require quite a lot of security when they travel, and it was just too much for co-owner and chef, Pierre Koffel.

His wife, Bev Koffel, also an owner of the restaurant, told the Vancouver Sun that Meghan and Harry's security detail came by the restaurant to ask about the couple's coming to eat there.

"They said, ‘How did you figure out who we were?’ And I said, ‘It wasn’t too hard,'" she said. Bev was clear in her remarks to the publication that she would like to host the royals at her restaurant, but it was her husband who put a stop to the idea.

"Anyhow, you know what Pierre’s like," she told the Vancouver Sun. "We’ll see what happens."

It sounds like there's still some hope yet, depending on who the royals talk to next time they swing by Deep Cove Chalet. But for now, Bev said she hopes the family are getting some holiday relaxation after the whirlwind, highly publicized year they've had. They've been seen hiking around Vancouver Island's Horth Hill Regional Park, which is likely helping with the detox from such a big year.

"Let them have their peace and quiet. For us to be so lucky to have them in the area, how lucky is that?" Bev said. "I wish them all the privacy they can possibly get. They deserve it."
